Just a few random thoughts and pictures

He’s not the type to gloat…

So I’m thinking I might gloat a little for him, just this once…

As you might already know, David one Best Actor at the TV Choice awards last night, beating Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith in the process. Full details of all the winners can be found over at the TV Choice website.

“Having waved goodbye to the TARDIS, David Tennant had been keen to move on, and his win tonight – over current Timelord Matt Smith,Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch and Merlin’s Colin Morgan, shows that fans still love the Scottish star. Single Father, about a man struggling to care for his kids following his wife’s tragic death, teamed him with former Corrie favourite Suranne Jones.”

  1. I finally watched Single Father last week, my intention was to watch one episode each night… (you see, I don’t like kids, so getting myself to watch it even with David starring in it was hard.)

I cried every episode for one reason or another, and the ending cliff hangers made me put the next episode on immediately. I stayed up till 2am until l watched all of it happily. He was wonderful in it, and I didn’t even mind all the kids around and was happy for all of them as their problems worked out in the story. Great show, I can see why he won. He is so talented he has had me enjoying Hamlet, and loving a 4hr show about kids!

    • he was amazing in that, and certainly deserved to win.

  2. YAY for David!

He really deserved it – his acting was superb in that. But then, when isn’t it?

The quality of the acting and production as a whole (minus, perhaps the rushed ending) was wonderful – shame it didn’t win too.

I loved that they didn’t go for the usual “knee-jerk” reaction to grief – tears would’ve been too easy. I thought that Dave’s reaction to Rita’s death was so realistic – he looked like he’d been punched in the stomach.

I STILL haven’t re-watched it – I have the DVD so maybe now, after nearly a year, it’s time?

    • I have the DVD too, but I haven’t rewatched it yet either. I will get to it though, just not sure when

  3. I have been rather neglecting this blog lately, but so, it seems, have you. However, I thank you for reminding me of these awards. Looks like all my favourites won. Such a joy to see both Sherlock and Doctor Who on the top (only disappointment being Being Human winning over Misfits). And David… he has such presense that I had no doubt he would win. Matt and Benedict might be strangely handsome, tall and skinny (and, of course, very good actors) but they lack the human kindness David seems to radiate…

    • yeah, RL has been getting in the way a lot for me lately.

    • That’s exactly what he has, Belle – human kindness. When I saw Much Ado in June I managed to see him for a few precious seconds! I was SO nervous I couldn’t even speak and so he did – immediately putting me at my ease and making me feel really special.
In less than a week I’ll be seeing him again and having a professional picture taken, so I hope I do better then! I have no doubt that, however brief our encounter is, he’ll be as kind and sensitive as before.

      • oooh, you’re going to the photo shoot? lucky you 🙂

        • I am indeed – but as around 500 people are supposed to be doing the same thing in, so I’m led to believe, a space of two hours, it’s hardly going to be an intimate affair.

I’ll take it, though – it’s worth it just to spend some time with him, however short. (See above).

I’ll do as David does and “drink it in”.

I now have to decide what to wear, what to do with my hair (to cut, or not to cut!) and if it’s worth doing some baking… One good thing is that I’ve finally found the card I’ve wanted to write to him for ages.

          • I’m sure you’ll have a great time, no matter what 🙂

  4. I know I will! I’m a bit scared about it in a way, to be honest – there’ll be an awful lot of people there – but I’ll try to be brave.
I was going to take Amigurumi_Ten – it would be nice to have a sneaky cuddle – but as I explained to him, I probably wouldn’t have time to introduce him to his human, anyway. Shame, but there you are!

    Comment by whogal | September 27, 2011

    • not sure what he’d think if you introduced them, might call security, lol

      Comment by develish1 | September 27, 2011

      • Aww, no! Surely not? He’d LOVE him! 🙂 I bet he’d giggle in that lovely way we all adore so much… And I’m sure he’d want to cuddle him.

        • on the other hand though, he might want to keep him? yeah, best not introduce them, just in case

  5. I left Arigurumi_Ten at home – wish I hadn’t in a way, I’m sure DT would’ve loved him – but I’d have hated to lose him and anyway, he doesn’t feel right without his glasses.

    Comment by whogal | October 5, 2011

    • probably for the best, as you say it would have been awful if you’d lost him, and in busy places like that it’s all too easy to do
